(Phillips Nation)- ?Rewind to the presidential election of 2004.
Republican George W. Bush defeats Democrat John Kerry by an electoral
count of 286 to 251, and by over three million popular votes. With this
seemingly convincing win, John McCain should be elated at his prospects of
doing the same.
Fast forward to 2008. What should be a built-in advantage for John McCain
is fast becoming an electoral nightmare. In 2004, 31 states voted for
sitting Republican President George W. Bush; 19 states and the District of
Columbia voted for Democrat John Kerry. The strategy seems simple for
McCain; he only needs to replicate the performance of Bush in 2004 in
order to be the next president of the United States. As you will soon see,
this is where the nightmare begins.
